The log cabin was built in 1808 in New Lisbon, Ohio. It was founded as a German newspaper. It was the first newspapers west of Pittsburgh, PA. In 1809 it was changed to English and called The Ohio Patriot.
The log cabin has been updated with a ramp for handicap entry. It also has an updated roof with shingles, air conditioner, modern windows and electric lights. It has been brought "Back to the Future".
It is located on Route 43 in Kent and is in the Davey Arboretum across from the Davey Tree headquarters.
This is a bench that has that has the look of 1808.
See what the others have to show on my side bar.

Neat post and photos
Great theme and great photos!
A famous Log Cabin, brought back from the past into the future.
Great take on the theme Tom.
I love these old buildings!
Cheers from Cottage Country!
Oh, yes! I love old, historical buildings like this one, too, Tom!! Terrific shots for the day!! Hope your week is going well!!
What a great find! Nice take on the theme. It can be tricky to integrate old and new in a tasteful way. I like the simplicity of this log cabin.
I like this cabin. You've done a great job with this week's theme.
Restored and reused! Nothing better than that for bringing the old building back to the future! Indeed a good choice for the theme.
Hi Tom,
I was just over at Craver's and saw he was on the team. Thought I'd pop over and see how you're doing.
Love that little cabin! Wouldn't mind having it in the woods behind me.
You and Craver took very different paths to the theme.
Hope all has been going well for you.
I like your take on this!
