My World - Year #2 - Episode #1

This is my posting for the My World Meme. It is hosted by Klaus, Sandy, Wren, Louise and myself. Won't you join in, I want to see where you live and thrive. Go see the new layout at the My World site.

Something new for me, my wife wanted me to drive in the Kent State Homecoming Parade. I'm usually on the lake fishing. My Granddaughter took the photo of me in the Don Joseph Toyota truck. The Toyota Dealership supplied my wife the truck and trailer for the parade. The students spent their time to decorate it.
My wife runs the EXCEL program at the school, it is for the undeclared students to help them find a major for their college career choice. She has a great group of students to advise.
We were in the located in the middle of the parade and passed the Kent band getting ready to march. Do you think the leaders noticed the photographer/driver? I was going 5 MPH at the time.
It was cool and cloudy as we travelled Main Street. Sometimes the marchers got in front. Tradition is to throw candy to the children. My grandson was the hit of the students and rode most of the parade and threw candy from his hat. My wife's design for the shirt on the back, (Got Major?). Do you get it?
Kent lost the game by one point, sad ending to a great parade.

You think a small town like mine would do this more. Love to see anything like this and to capture those colours and visuals is a real treat.

Oh Fishing Guy, you are in your element with all those goodlooking students and your own grandkids. So what college rained on your beautiful parade by beating you? I hope it wasn't Miami.

What a fun day, Tom! Love your photos! That's the way to celebrate! Looks and sounds as though everyone had a great time -- even if Kent did lose at the last minute!

Have a great week!

Great post and it is wonderful to be so involved and be the driver for the day. I would like to throw out the candy too.

It looks as if the parade was very successful. It's too bad about the football game.

Yep! I got it.
You look mighty proud to be pulling that float with that new Toyota truck. And I'm sure you were very proud of your wife for the job she's done with the students. It's nice to be included in your spouse's activities.

Tom, That was so neat of you to drive the truck. Your wife does the greatest job with her students. I know you are proud of her. Sorry they lost the game.

Such a lovely event to be involed in with your family. I'm sure you enjoyed it as much if not more than a day's fishing!

Parades - fun - to watch, fun - to be in and fun - when you are in charge and it is successfully over. Great post and pictures.

Looks like fun! A great thing your wife is doing-it can be so hard for kids to figure out what they want to do with their lives.

How nice of you to give up your fishing time to drive in the parade. Your wife must have a really interesting job. I wish someone would have guided me into a career when I was in high school.
