#2 Was tricky in its own way. The green and red were definitely lichen in bloom. The brown is Tamarack Tree (Larch) leaves lying on the ground. The Tamarack drop there leaves every year and are found in the bogs in Ohio. They do look like a pine tree as they grow. We had some great guesses from Ann who said lichen and pine needles (check out her lake post), Gaelyn who knew the lichen was blooming (check out her trip into the canyon and her perm) and Darla who said it was dead leaves (she has blooming in her Florida garden and butterflies). Really neat job by the three of you, a trio of smart ladies.

What Is It XXXVII - Answers
#1 Was pretty tricky but here is the fawn as it went past my garden. If you now look closely you can see the fawn must have jumped just as I took the photo. You can see the tail of the deer in the right top corner in perfect focus. Now that you know it's a deer I think you can see it with the back legs and butt in the air with the head forward. It was a cloudy day and the camera tried hard to pull in the light. No-one was able to get this tricky one. It was a special capture of the little fawn. This photo would have been deleted before What Is It.

I will learn to go with my gut!! I thought to myself that the legs were a bit strange to be bird legs...I knew that the dead leaves were too wide to be pine...good one this week Tom!
Neat choices for this week-I wouldn't have been able to figure any of them out this time : )
Oh yeaaaaaah, I can totally see that deer now. That was a good one, Fishing Guy!! Congrats to the lucky winners. :-)
Wow, that deer jumping shot was a lucky blur. Funny how I don't throw away a lot of photos just because they arent' clear. Good one and a real fooler.
Thanks for the mention even if I wasn't 100% right. I'm going to keep woring it. And maybe soon Joan will bring on another mystery.
Hey not fair! I said it was a dear! We would all agree that Bug Lady is dear to us all!
Nice one again Tom... Very tricky!

Great going to the winners.
Great photo from the deer.
That was an excellent one Tom. I would not have guessed it if I took all day. :)
Craig: you are so sweet. I am just glad to see you didn't put in 'old'. :)
Good one Mr. Tom, that was tricky but I knew it wasn't a flying rabbit!!
Oh well, I'm beginning to enjoy loosing ;)
ah, this was a fun series to guess at!
I think I should be glad that I didn't get to your What is It this week. I wouldn't have had a clue on either one of these pictures.
That's a neat post. The deer is quite a player. And the tamarack is very soft, green, and lovely.
I liked the fawn collection Tom, nice try.
I'm still amazed at how clear it is, when we look at the first image of the deer, and then the blurry one is so obvious... but looking at the blur alone, I honestly did not even come close.
Now that you've pointed it out, I can see the fawn - but I still think you can see a hawk and prey there as well. :)
