Camera Critters #13

Camera Critters by Misty Dawn, go here to see who's participating.

The fishing started out slow today but a Cormorant was posing on a buoy. He turned and jump off in to water and paddled away.
A hawk flew by overhead.
At the main aerator for Lake Hodgson were another Cormorant and a Great Blue Heron.
I was able to inch up pretty close and he did a couple of poses before getting nervous.
He was definitely aware of me as I zoomed in with the camera.
I use a Samsung Digimax D53 camera with a 3X zoom when on the boat so don't get some of the close-ups I can get with the normal camera. The Cannon SX100 IS that I use normally has a 10X zoom and with digital can go to 40X. I do use digital zoom and with my image stabilization can get fairly good photos.

I only caught 2 Crappie and one nice 17" Largemouth Bass today. I thought it was a big Crappie but was happy for the fight. They were all returned to the lake.

Oh nice, you saw a LOT. Staying perched on that buoy looks as easy as falling off a log.

Yes, the lyrics to Glow worm were left in my Comments by another blogger with the same idea. Wanna sing it together?

Nice photos. I recently saw a great blue heron but sadly even with the zoom I was not able to get a close enough shot for my liking.

I wonder if balancing on buoys is like a bird olympics sport... where your rate for position, balance... Cool shots and the blue heron too. Nice fish as well.

Hi Fishing guy,
Nice to see you have Cormorants and Grey Heron over there. How about some of your back yard birds on your blog?

Hey Fish

The fishery today yielded more birds than fish.

Great photos always.
And thanks for visit.

A wonderful camera critters post!

I always enjoy your blog. You have learned to appreciate the nature that you see on a day to day basis and many do not do that.

I discovered years ago that doing so made life much more interesting and fulfilling and I am glad to see that you have discovered that too!

Nice Camera Critters, but I think the fish don't like it.

LOVE the Blue Heron pics. I still can't get close enough to get a shot of the one who regularly visits our pond.

A 17" bass... not bad! If it doesn't rain here like they are calling for (yeah right - this year has been nothing but rain), I'm thinking about walking down to the pond with the pole for a little bit.

Cormorants are like little clown birds ~ I enjoy watching them in the water.

I've never seen a Comorant before-neat! And the bass was a good one!

I honestly didn't know that coromorants lived in OH. I thought they were strictly a southern bird.

Nice to see someone else from my hometown =) I was born in Ravenna and raised in Kent.
