Camera Critters #18

Camera Critters by Misty Dawn, go here to see who's participating.

The Shore Birds of Florida:
My brother-in-law took me down to the Gulf to see what we would see. I saw a group of Seagulls and went onto the sand to investigate.
Some of them took-off as I approached slowly.
There were some brave ones standing their ground.
I zoomed in on this female and was surprised what I saw.
There was a Willet in with that seagull bunch. What an extra nice surprise.
My brother-in-law told me about these big grey birds that came into their yard. They never showed up the whole time we were there. They showed up when my brother-in law returned from the airport. I figured they were Great Blue Herons and was surprised when he sent me these photos. they are a pair of Sand Hill Cranes.
They are a beautiful bird.
They put on a good show for him.
I was happy with his results.

Oh cool - a Willet! Wonderful! Your storks however aren't storks. These are Florida Sandhill Cranes. Not all Sandhill Cranes migrate - and Florida has it's own population that stays there all year. They look the same as their cousins, that fly up to the Arctic regions in Summer and winter in Florida, but they are a little bit smaller...
Good shots!
Cheers, Klaus

Well, whatever kind of birds they are, those are some great shots! I got a couple of decent pictures while in Charleston, SC. But none in comparison to yours. I gotta get a better camera! (sigh)

Cool shots of the Sandhill Cranes, and of the other birds. Have never seen this sort of crane, nor a Willet, either. Nice to know what they look like.

I love the seagull in flight. I never get to see the seagulls here unless I get out to the huge lakes about 5 hours from here so even when people despise them, I actually get excited when I see them because it's a rarity to spot them out in the mountains.
The Cranes are also awesome as well!!

I like the Sandhill Cranes, I haven't seen this species often but my first sighting was in one of the Carolinas. Nice pictures and how nice for the opportunity to go to the coastal area.

I like your music choices also;I just visited and listened to them for a while.

I like how you tell a story with your pictures. Some of these could be edited into children's picture books on nature. Just a thought.

My contribution to the meme is a lot like yours is today. :)

I think you should turn this blog posts (and the others you've done like it) into a book for children or a coffee table book. The photos and that great way that you describe them is a joy to read!

Blessings!
