Sky Watch Friday 8-16

Sky Watch Friday has a new home and a life of it's own. Please check out the new sight and link in if you wish to participate. There were 330 people last week with beautiful Sky photos. You can link in from my side bar or above

This is not my most interesting Sky but certainly an interesting capture. A hot air balloon was in the sky and heading for me. I reached out to capture it but ended up that I didn't have to because it was coming at me. I was at a park on island in a stream near a dam.
It continued to get closer and I kept shooting.
I got a real treat as it continued toward me.
It went directly overhead and I was able to get the burns.
I was even able to get a reflection shot in the stream.
It went about 100 yards and on the other side of the stream it landed.
That wasn't what I came to the park to capture but was very happy with what I did capture.

The reflection is my favorite! Aren't they sooo much fun to watch? Neat that you were able to catch the fire in there :)

I have to agree, I like the reflection one the best also. It brings a different aspect to skywatch.

Wow. That reflection of the balloon in the water is really special. All of the photos are nice but I favor this one.

FG, those are wonderful! And congrats on getting the great reflection!

The reflection photos are fabulous, especially the one with the fire. I live in the land of the world's largest balloon festival (in October). No water here, so no reflections, but I still know that getting the fire at just the right moment was tricky. Lovely post!

Fabulous shots! How come I'm never there when things like that happen? ;)

Great shots! I especially like the one with the balloon reflected in the water. I think it would be neat to go up in a hot-air balloon, but at the same time, it would scare the daylights out of me!

I like the ones with the actual balloon and the reflection. It is more at a distance, but I like it. It is so great when the unexpected happens, nicely!

The hot-air balloon steals all attention from the skies, no wonder: those colours... Very nice.

Isn't it amazing what comes our way when we least expect it? Lovely shots above as it is below! So often opportunistic shots turn out to be the best.
Thanks for dropping by.

Sorry for the late post; my waggin' is draggin' this week. Love your 'on an island in a park by a dam' photos. Hot air balloons are great subjects. I love the shot where you're looking almost straight up into the center of it and the reflection photo. Wonderful captures.

See you next week.
