The Birds Are Showing Off

The Canadian Geese stopped me on the way to work as they moved their 3/4 grown goslings. Notice the color change and how much they look like the parents. The feathers are coming out and the faces are changing.
They have black feathers in the rear to look even more like the parents from behind.
A female Cardinal on the fence not the best lighting but the best I got..
A male cardinal in the yard.
Hello Mr. Crow.
A neat shot of a Red Winged Blackbird on a pine in the rain.
A Female Mallard Duck preening and a Sparrow looking on.
The Great Blue Heron was also preening, I saw him three times this week.
He was very active looking for food.
Back and forth he went on the alert.
He hears something for sure.
He almost went in for the kill but backed off. The fish must have been smarter this time.

Babies are growing fast.. and even the poor winged fishermen have a tough day once in a while.. I always get stuck here listening to the music.. had never heard some of these.. ~ thanks

You definitely have a great variety of birds here... I have just posted some birds as well today. Not as many as you have as I haven't been as lucky in seeing that many. Good job on the bird hunt... we really do need to nickname you the bird man, I think!

I've never been able to catch a blue heron with my camera. They are very shy around here. Good job!

FG, where did you get the shots of the Heron and how did you get so close without it flying away?

I know you have a nice camera (if you're still using the one you blogged about) but I didn't think it would let you get such close up shots like you did without the birds flying away.
