Why do I Blog?

I have had several people ask me recently why I blog. It is not an easy answer. It takes an effort to continually make post on a daily basis. You must be thinking of things to use for the blog and how you are going to present them. Blogging has definitely become a hobby which I enjoy.

My blog has changed over the past year I have been blogging. One of the biggest changes was the purchase of my Canon PowerShot SX-100-IS in early January. This little camera has improved my photographic ability by 10 fold. It is at the low end of the midsized cameras but works really well. The country concerts I attend do not allow removable lens cameras into the venue so my camera ends up being the best bet. The 8.2 MP makes it a great camera for printing quality photos. I did a photo shoot with all eight grand kids and am very happy with the results.

So, back to why do I blog?

1. I blog to share with others what is happening in my life.

2. I blog to share my love of four things: family, fishing, photography and country music.

3. I blog to meet friends who have common interest. You do find people who enjoy your interest and who will share their likes with you.

4. I blog to see what others in the world are doing. I have visited people throughout the USA, Canada, England, Norway, Portugal, Fiji, Singapore, Brazil, Greece, Philippines, Australia and Tasmania. I feel I have made many friends through my travels through the Internet.

5. I am able to share with new bloggers my experiences on the Internet.

6. Now the best reason is: I do it because I have fun blogging and feel a reward when someone enjoys what I've done.

I received a award from Carletta at Round the Bend as a Super Commenter. I feel comments are the life blood of the blog world. It lets people know that you thought enough of what they have done to take the time to tell them so. I would like to pass this award along to Klaus at Virtua Gallery and Tom at Ohio Nature because they both visit and help me when I go astray on any of my identifications of birds and bugs.

You really ARE a super commenter! Thanks for this post FG. I think we all ask ourselves this question, especially when our lives are busy. I have never been a huge fan of the internet, but now find it strange that I actually miss my blogger friends..lol...Have a wonderful weekend..

I have enjoyed your blog. I also agree that by blogging you find many people with the same common interests as you and in that you have found a friend.

Your skywatch photos are beautiful. I love that one with the pond. To me it says "see who needs an ocean to make beautiful sunrise/sunset images."

Fishing Guy, I love all your reasons for blogging and I think we blog for the very same reasons excepting our interests are different when it comes to fishing. We have no desire to fish. But everything else, we agree on. Jack and I started blogging in 2007 as a way to communicate easily with our family and friends when we were on our 39 day cross country sightseeing trip and Jack did the blogging. Now we are back home and I have fallen in love with blogging. And I admit I have one secret reason for blogging. I'll mention it here because I know they don't read your blog. There is information about family, life, and love that I want to pass on to my two daughters and I find this blog of mine is a great way to create a family memory thread for them. I unwind a little info each day for them. Like right now I'm on a family history theme.

I came for critters and noticed this post. It is an odd thing to do blog and even stranger to explain why we do it. I echo a lot of what you've said. Congrats on the award too.

I think that is a good list of excellent reasons to blog.

I have always felt that your love for your subject matter shows through in your posts.

It was interesting to read about the interchangeable lens cameras and the country concerts.

It is harder and harder to legally photography or videotape many things.

I agree with number six. I like it when others find joy in one of my posts. Plus, it's a good way to improve photography and keep your mind fresh.

After being asked this question by Rebecca, I wrote my responses on my 3rd blog, Blog Rolls & Bling. My reasons are similar to yours.
Hugs and blessings,
