Sky Watch Friday with the new format. Please check out the site and link in if you wish to participate. There were a lot of people with beautiful Sky photos last week. You can link in from my side bar or at the start of this post.
The once mighty Oak Tree climbs skyward into the blue. Their majesty while not once what they were are still beautiful in my eyes.
Hang on dear Oak Tree to the power you had once shown.

Is something killing the eastern Oaks? I have a friend in upstate NY, and I know their beeches are being wiped out. What's gonna be left for our grandchildren?
Nice skies your way, Tom! I like the oak tree, too. It is a majestic tree
Happy Sky Watching
Both very beautiful photo's!!
Love the blue blue sky!!
Take care and Happy SWF
Great photos.
Loss of trees is a sad story.
Come visit 'Prairie Barrens' under a hot sky, Click here.

Nice captures, lovely blue sky.
Enjoy your weekend!
How stark their branches are against the lush green surrounding them.
That really does look like an elderly hand reaching out to the sky. Most trees here have been around longer than me so they deserve my respect.
wow. very nice.I am also in Washington:)
Yes, the trees are still beautiful, Tom! And these are majestic!
Have a great weekend!

Very nice post. I like bare trees, they are like sculptures.
Great skywatch picture, Tom. Is the oak healthy??? It doesn't look like it--unless you took that photo in the winter.... Beautiful Sky though.

our shots are similar this week. Great photos.....

A neat set of images!
Love that blue-by-you shot Tom.
I like both of these photos, Tom. There's something about old trees that intrigues me...
Those old dead trees..such a gold mine to a birder..glad you captured this one.. I bet it was home to a few neat nest cavity birds!! Love that blue in your sky..wonderful
It is still a mighty Oak and beautiful too.
Blessings,Ruth
Even in their ragged later years, trees are still beautiful.
Nice skies and shots.
Great pictures and I totally love the squirrel in your header!!! -Cathy
FG-Are your tree's dying? They still look pretty magnificant in front of the beautiful blue sky! Happy Friday!:)

Wonderful Sky Watch, Tom!
The tree in the second picture is amazing.
It looks so sad with just a few leaves here and there. Great pictures, though. They are magnificent trees.
Poor oak tree! What happened to all its leaves?
Though the oaks trees are half died, but still they looking magnificent.
Your skies make an excellent backdrop for those ancient oaks.
It's sad to see them grow old - although their old age probably lasts almost as long as a human life :)
Nice weather in your part of the world!
I gre up in a very small town and the strrets were lined with oak trees. What a great, majestic sight that was. I don't see such big ones around anymore.
The trees are awesome, beautiful photos!
I love your words to the Oaks... it is mighty right to the end.
Beautiful shots, my friend.

I love that great old oak in front of the blue and milky white sky. Sorry to see it won't get much older.
Enjoy your weekend!
That oak tree looks like it would make a good scarey halloween tree!
:-)
Great photos. We have some sad Oaks around these parts too!
The dying oak trees are a shame, but your pictures are both beautiful and powerful. Thanks!
You know what caught my eye when I enlarged them? In the first one, back towards the house it looks like a rock wall...I would love to see more of it.
I am always drawn to dead and dying trees....don't know why.
We don't get the lovely old oak trees up here in coastal BC, but I do love our maples with their mossy trunks and twisty branches. Plus they do put on a spectacular show in the fall. I invite you to come see my "coming home" sunset. - Margy
I hope all the oak trees are not endangered. Your trees are still beautiful in their struggle for survival.
To me the oak is the royalty among trees - thank you for sharing!
Am interested on what's next of the old oak, then. Nice skywatch photos.

Sad. With or without leaves though, the oak is a beautiful sight to behold.
Very beautiful skies and the oaks are still quite lovely. I love your header of the black squirrel.

What is making it lose its might? I'm partial to trees that have some bare branches anyway. I think it shows their "personality" better.
It always makes me just a bit sad to see a tree losing its vigor. But the old "bones" of the tree are very interesting to look at and hopefully will provide nesting spots for woodpeckers and other creatures.
Pretty skies.
I love the big trees. It makes me wonder what life was like when they were a sapling.
I hope it survives. It's hard to see these mighty wonders struggle.
Oaks live for hundreds of years and by its size it is but a youngster...why is it blighted? Lightning strike?
Nice shot though.
nice pic. I like the Oak tree.
