My friend Luiz Santilli Jr. has started a Today's Flowers Meme, check it out. Come and join with your flower photos. You can get in on the ground floor.
This is the Stag-horn Sumac Tree - Rhus typhina. It is outside my work place. I thought this unusual flower deserved recognition.
This is a beautiful flower and the leaves on the tree turn a bright red in the fall to match the flower.

We used to have one of these trees in our yard. It was beautiful. They grew wild around us, too. I was allergic to them. NOT so beautiful!
Oh yes - they deserve a place in the spotlight! Good contribution!
Cheers, Klaus
I have some of those growing in my area. Nice shots.
Very pretty!
Beautiful choice! Some use the dried pods in their drawers... I think for spider deterent?
We have these sumac trees here in Connecticut, and I love the color they bring.
I pass one of those every day when I walk. I knew it was some sort of sumac but didn't know the rest of the name. I learned something today thanks to you!
Nice shots. Just wanna thank you for dropping by my site!
amazing bright red!
Wow. this is the first time I see such flower. And it would also be agreat sight when the leaves turn red. Another great capture FG.
We also used to have some of these trees in our yard when I was a child. They grew wild, and we called them Essigbaum or Götterbaum. In fall, the leaves had all colours from yellow to red. I loved them very much!
Nice shots!
They are very pretty and the leaves turn such a beautiful colour in the fall as well. They grow wild all around the Kahshe gardens and we are constantly pulling them out where they invade the gardens.
My Flower Here
Love the long slender leaves. And the bits of light in your upper photo.
I've seen these flower heads but not know what they were.
TY for the info.
I've joined 'Todays Flowers' a little late today.
Very nice, FG. I love the colour of the sumac leaves in fall too. And if you soak the berries, strain and add sugar you can make a drink that tastes a lot like lemonade. (Git that from Euell Gibbons. Do you remember him?)
Very pretty, the Native American Indians made lemonade like drink from its crushed fruit.
I've never seen that beautiful tree. Thanks for the education.
That was a most magnificent red!
Fishing guy. We have those tree's over here. Nice captures of it . Oh! and thanks for the comments on my blog. I'm glad you liked the pics.
What a beautiful flower. I do not believe we have these in Colorado.

I have seen these by the roadside. Such beutiful color, especially in the fall. Aren't they poisonous?
Gypsy: There is a Poison Sumac but it has a white flower. This one is used to make a drink and as a spice. Amazing what nature will bring you.
Nice photo of the sumac and great color too.
Thanks for the visit,
Troy
FG, Nice shots!
Gorgeous color. What a great tree. My brother planted a sumac some time ago but it doesn't thrive in our climate.
This is really a beautiful flower. Like the flowers of large trees. Decorating the cities.
I like these trees. I have seen many of them but never knew what they were. Thanks for sharing.
Beautiful flower of choice for this collective, congratulations and thanks for the visit enjoyable.
Denise
Your Staghorn Sumac is really producing some bright red colors.
Well, I just joined Luiz Santilli Junior's flowers group and planted some flowers and they are already in bloom at my new blog, Thunder Maker.
It looks like I am going to have to try and catch up with everyone. So many blogs to stop at and make comments.

I have seen these several times, but never knew what they were. I have only seen them from a distance, never up close enough to see the texture of the flower. Great shots.
