I wanted to honor a friend from Canada and I thought what better way then to post an animal whose name originated in her land. Michele of The Rocky Mountain Retreat is recovering from her injury of last weekend. It was like taking away a part of our viewing pleasure when we had to miss her posts of the beautiful country of British Columbia, Canada. So here is my little way to share my high regards for her site. I'm starting out with a group of preening geese trying to clean their feathers. How many are there in this group? Count carefully. This is a pair from a small pond that swam by to show off.
Finally, here is a pair from in the Spring from the same pond with a few youngsters in tow.
I'm so glad Michele is again able to show us her amazing land.

Love the geese-and glad your friend is doing better.
A nice dedication - your geese are lovely!
Cool idea and Michele deserves it - she's having a heck of time!!!
Great shots!!!
Lovely - Thanks for sharing.
I was just telling someone yesterday how I'd been attacked by one of these things at Mackinaw Island in front of Grand Hotel!!!
Still think they are gorgeous though!
Blessings!

The second one is really nice FG!
Seems we have a bird in common FG!
In answer to your question on bird date's. There has been a lot of work done in the UK on the arrival and departure of migrant birds, and the results do indeed suggest that the birds are returning to breed earlier than they used to, due to the milder winters we have now.
Nice shots. I thought I saw three but then realized it was four. I hope it's four. :-)
I love Michele and her photos! I wasn't aware she had an accident - gosh, working so many jobs is making me miss out on so much!
I'm headed over to her blog - You're a great person, my friend.
