What Is It XXXIV - Answers

#1 Is a Red-Eared Bluegill, it gets its name from the location of the shape that reminds you of an ear on the end of the gill plate. Craver VII was the first and said it was a fish ear and then said it was a bluegill when I asked to be more specific. Way to go on a great ID. He has a neat Crane Fly on his site. You can see it does look something like the eye of the fish. It takes a big bluegill to eat a minnow. #2 The photo of my favorite fish the Crappie. Craig was the man with a quick ID.
He has been off his feed with few posts lately but he was first.
#3 The top of my Coleman cooler that I put my fish into as soon as I get to the truck. I also use the lid to fillet my fish. Joan wrote me and said a cutting board. She has some neat bees on her site. She beat Craig by 2 minutes. Craig was really hot this week and also got this one.
My grandson was over this week and helped with the filleting job. He always calls it cutting the fish.

Hope you all had fun.

It time for the questions of the day.

#1 Think hard and you may get this one.
#2 Quite similar to #1 so you need to be specific.
#3 This is related to #1 and #2, do you know how?
This could be tough or could be really easy if you know me, have fun.

My World # 51

This is my posting for the My World Meme. It is hosted by Klaus, Sandy, Wren, Louise and myself. Won't you join in, I want to see where you live and thrive.

What do you do if you don't like to cut the grass and you like flowering bushes. Why you change your lawn into a Rhododendron garden.

This is a house across town in Kent, Ohio that I took this Spring. The place always looks quite beautiful at this time of the year. These people have no lawn to cut in the summer. The plants have become quite large.
There garage is around the back of the house and you can see the complete lawn is covered with trees or flower.

Go and visit some other worlds and see what they show.

Camera Critters #77

Camera Critters by Misty Dawn, go here to see who's participating.

Their were a pair of dragonflies in my Ohio Buckeye Tree. I could see them flying around the area so I got some close shots.
They were a neat brown color to match the tree.
They were a lot of fun to capture with one being a mover and the other staying put. I really enjoyed the show as they flitted from limb to limb. They were probably resting after travelling a far way.
Check out all the critters from above.

Sky Watch Friday - Season #4 - Episode #11

Sky Watch Friday this is the place. Please check out the site and link in if you wish to participate. There were a lot of people with beautiful Sky photos last week. You can link in from my side bar or at the start of this post. You can link a 2:30 PM EDT. SWF is run by Klaus, Louise, Wren, Sandy and myself.

This is a look at a dreary morning sky, the promise of a full arch rainbow was there and rain came later in the day. This was the same day which I caught the big Walleye in the next post.
My boat camera has a hard time ding justice to the large rainbow but Lake Hodgson was a blessing to me that day. This lake is my pot of gold.
There are a lot of great skies to visit above.

Wednesday Potpourri

My local chipmunks like to climb and find a place to eat. My fox statue in the flower garden must be a neat place to go. I saw him last week but he didn't stay for a photo, this week he stayed put. This shot is from directly above him. I got another bonus fish today, a 28" 6# Walleye. I caught it on my 6'-6" Ultralight Ugly Stick. He put on a good fight. It is a Fish Ohio fish in Ohio.
I also caught 25 Crappie and one bluegill, here are the best ones. They ran from 9" to 11" long
I have been having a ball catching fish with the Fall bite in full swing. I was the only boat on the lake until 9 AM and then only one boat came by.

What Is It XXXIII - Answers

You can actually see all three answers in this one shot.

#1 Is the turn signal light on the Jeep.

Gaelyn made two good guesses, see her Grand Canyon Park through the rangers own eyes.

Darla said it exactly with her guess. It is always a pleasure to see her garden growing.

#2 Is the parking lot light. I guess this was another crop too close.

#3 Is the head light on the Jeep.

Gaelyn hit this one exactly.
Here is the actual photo of the parking lot light that I used for the crop.
It was a fun game with a lot of game playing.

What Is It XXXIII

My World is below this post.

I do hope I'm not being too easy today but after cropping to close on that one last week I thought I would keep them in the same arena of life.

#1 You have definitely seen this before. Maybe if you think hard it will flash into your mind
#2 Can you get this one? You have used it before.
#3 Something you see most every day.
Have fun, I hope you don't have to use a crystal ball to get them.

My World # 50

This is my posting for the My World Meme. It is hosted by Klaus, Sandy, Wren, Louise and myself. Won't you join in, I want to see where you live and thrive.

Mac an I are having a header challenge based on water. Check his out here.

I was out the lake for the Ravenna Thunderbirds annual water fly show. The crash in the header occurred because of a loss of a part on take-off. It is always a fun weekend and the slight ripple on the water gave some planes trouble. The owner had cut his self so was at the emergency when the plane crashed. It is a good thing I got this shot for the FAA to determine cause of the crash (just kidding). I was not in my boat but on the shore for the show. You launch the plane and then it is all radio control. If you stall the engine you have to row and get the plane.
Here is one coming in for a landing.
They were mostly gas powered except for one electric model.
Here is one lifting off and headed for the sky.
It was a fun day in my world with a lot of nice people with a different hobby then mine.

I have a small pot of Gazania Daisies on the deck (thanks for all the help with the ID). It is putting on a late Summer show. I do love this orange one for sure.

Camera Critters # 76

Camera Critters by Misty Dawn, go here to see who's participating.

The ban of my garden is the Groundhog or Woodchuck. This one is out in the yard eating grass which is okay.
They do like to continuously eat vegetable matter. We often have a battle as to who is in charge.
You can see a lot of neat critters at the above link.

Sky Watch Friday - Season # 4 - Episode # 10

Sky Watch Friday this is the place. Please check out the site and link in if you wish to participate. There were a lot of people with beautiful Sky photos last week. You can link in from my side bar or at the start of this post. You can link a 2:30 PM EDT. SWF is run by Klaus, Louise, Wren, Sandy and myself.

I was on Lake Hodgson last week and captured this blue sky reflecting off the lake. I was following the Great Blue Heron as it cruised over the lake but the sky reflecting in the lake was special. I caught the bird right in the gap between the trees. Click on the photos for a closer look.
My wife called me the other evening and told me to check out the sky. I'm always telling her to check things out in the sky. She had a better view then I, but I loved what I was able to capture. This was from my front porch. The dusk was moving in and the sky was in alive in a pastel fire.
There are a lot of great skies to visit above.

Wednesday Potpourri

Wednesday Potpourri with a lot of different directions. The bounty of the garden is prolific at this time of year. The tomatoes, peppers, eggplant and squash are performing beyond belief. It looks like we might go into Indian Summer and keep on producing. My nephews son is such a cutie and is digging into that ice cream cone.
I caught a big Channel cat this past week - 5# 26" long on a crappie rig. It had the pole doubled in half as I fought it in. This fish was released to grow larger.
The Black Crappie are starting to bite and as the Fall approaches the bite should improve. They run from 11" to 9" and are good fighters on ultralight outfits. This is part of the catch. I call them footballs because of their shape.
I hope you enjoyed the variety in this post.

What Is It XXXII - Answers

What a fun week with a lot of nice tries.

When I saw the Sun reflecting of the water I thought how would a close-up come out. So I zoomed in and found out. Warren from England was right on with his answer. He has a neat birding site.
#2 I was on a walk through a grass field and found this soul from a shoe. I thought the tread pattern might be too easy. I decided to show the curl at the bottom. I guess I made it too tricky.
#3 The bird was a young Cowbird that was moulting. This bird does not raise its young but lays the eggs in someone else's nest. This bird was originally a traveler with the Buffalo and that was the way they were able to continue their line. You can see the beak and shape and can recognize the bird. This one had a female Cardinal along with it. Tina is a birder and always has great bird photos on her site. She was able to help me with the ID.
Thanks for your guess.

#2 I found this while on a walk and thought it was interesting.
#3 This bird came to to my feeder. Do you now the name of this bird. I do hope you have fun and get them all.

My World # 49

This is my posting for the My World Meme. It is hosted by Klaus, Sandy, Wren, Louise and myself. Won't you join in, I want to see where you live and thrive.

Kent State University is a big part of our Ohio community. Our town goes from 25,000 to 45,000 in one weekend as the students arrive. This is the Kent State Library with a welcome to the students.
It is the Fall and college football is on everyone's mind. Dix Stadium is the home of the Kent State Golden Flashes football team. The stadium has just gone through a major renovation and here are the results. I pass the stadium on the way to the lake I fish.
You can see a lot of other great worlds above.

Today's Flowers # 57 - Wild Yellow

My friend Luiz from Brazil does the Today's Flowers Meme, check it out. Come and join with your flower photos. Sunday at 2 GMT is the post time.

I do love wild flowers and this is a yellow tribute. This is Goldenrod, a beautiful flower in the field. I don't know the name of this tiny yellow flower but it is special with the coating of dew.
I always referred to these as Wild Daisey's because of their configuration. It does have a yellow center.
You can see a lot of great flowers at the above site.
