What Is It XXVI - Answers

I will be travelling for a few days and will check your sites when I return. Here are the answers.

Here we have a soccer net, was it easy? Abe guessed the Nylon rope right off and here it is on the soccer field. Abe has some of the best bird photos you will see on his site.
This is a chain link fence near the soccer field. Rose was the first one to guess chain link fence and has a neat nature site. Craig added plastic coated. Check out at the end to see this man's talent plus his site for photos.
The final one is a Burr Plant, I heard it helped in the development of Velcro. Check out the hooks and the way they connect to clothing as you walk by. Did you ever hear "Don't get a burr under your saddle". This is the reason, they do attach and hurt. Warren got this one, check out his neat bird blog.

I do hope you had fun this week.

Craig and I shared some poems on Joan's site after the guesses on Monday. She had a really neat salamander with the gills showing. Here are the poems, all in fun:

This was mine:
Here I sit guessing with a smile
unlike Craig who missed by a mile.
That will teach him ever to doubt
all my guesses,to him I will shout.
Craig oh Craig, you can try harder,
to guess like Tom would be smarter.
This is Craig's answer, it is a funny one.
Ode to Tom

Although it is true,
No one guesses like you.
I have missed them all,
By a continent or two.

The thing I can say,
And this is for certain
When Joan reads my guesses
Her sides start to hurtin’.

Deep in the wilds of Africa
In the wee hours of the mornin’
Laughter can be heard for miles
Without explanation or warnin’!

I love the poems you both came up with Tom. Thanks for making mine such a fun site.

Oh well, I guess it is only the booby prize for me this week with no correct answers. (Sigh!) And I was SURE I was on the right track this week. Did you switch the pics on me again? LOL!!

Good ones here Tom. :)

Thanks Tom, I really enjoyed "What is it" and will be back again and again. I think you run a more fair and ballanced game that that lady over in 'you know where'. I swear she swaps photo's all the time, or simply makes up stuff with playdoo! LOL

Guess we are published poet's now, just sit back and watch the money roll in and Fish!

Oh I am so sorry that I read the comment incorrectly Craig. Of course you would not be speaking of me. It was one of my dumb moments in which I got the wrong idea. LOL! LOL!!

Great post, Tom... I wouldn't have ever thought of a soccer net--although you did give us a hint since you were in a children's playground.

I got the chained-link fence, but not the 'burr'...

Thanks for letting us play your game!!

Have a great trip.
Hugs,
Betsy
P.S. Cute poem also!!!

The poems were great by both of you :-) And your tricky photos are getting trickier.

The plant that was the inspiration for Velcro is actually called burdock. Here's a link to some posts concerned with burdock at my blog, Lugubrious Drollery.
