Hi Tom, I think I've talked about our problem with groundhogs (or woodchucks)--when we first moved here. They were eating all of our plants and flowers and anything else they could find.
We finally found their 'home' ---and plugged up the main entrance (when we knew he wasn't in there). He finally gave up and left---and we've had no more problems with them since. Knock on wood!
I have had a battle or two with ground hogs, also. We had a dog that always won. Also, have you ever heard them called whistle pigs? I think that is just a regional thing from East Tennessee.
I'm always amazed at my ability both enjoy and loathe this creatures depending on where they are when I see them. Cute when I see them munching on the grass along the road or in a field. Evil when I catch them standing on their hind legs to bite the blooms off my coneflowers!!
He is lovely! We get birds in our garden but the squirrels, the biggest urban mammal in the village, stay away due to all the cats in the area. What a beautiful garden visitor!
Nice photos. The groundhog devestated parts of my garden this year. He even took up residence under my deck. Then there was the deer standing under my apple tree.. Next year going to have to put up a fence.. We are running out of good weather golf days.. Can't get that 7:00 Am tee time now. Have a great day

Great shots Fishing Guy!
This one looks pretty big. We had a small one who visited our backyard last summer but I haven't seen any this year.
Carletta’s Captures.
Hehehe! He's a handsome fella, isn't he?! Well, I hope the poor guy stays fed, but not outa YOUR garden!
Ha ha ha ha ha... I just read your post, but all the while, imitating Bill Murray from Caddyshack.
License to kill gophers... by the government of the United Nations.
He's cute, but then he hasn't been eating my garden!
My CC
He's a cute little guy (as long as he isn't standing in your vegetable patch).
Yep, I can sure see who's in charge!
How cute~! I've never seen these animals before. I don't think we have them here in South Africa. Do they just run wild in America?
I have to agree with Martha in Pa, he is cute as long as he is not eating my garden. Thanks for sharing your groundhog critter.

Cute little critter. Are they the ones the burrow all over the yard and dig up plants? Love the new header.
Why are such cute-looking beasties such monsters in the garden?
Love your new header Tom. We all have critters which we are less fond of unfortunately.

Great shot, FG!
I haven't seen a groundhog in a long time.
I don't think we have them down here.
Wow! He's a big dude, isn't he?!!!! Your buffet must be very good!

If you win this battle please let us know how you did it. You got great pictures of the critter.
Once, I caught one of these critters sitting by my front door, pumpkin in paws, happily munching away.
They're cute. I'd have a hard time chasing them out of the garden.
