I was on one of my walks on a sunny day when I spotted this female Mallard Duck in the little Fishcreek stream. She was a beauty and seemed with little fear. I loved the reflection.
She was dipping into the water as she went along. You can't hide from me with that little move.
Okay, okay, with a move like that you can escape a photo. Thanks anyways, I think it came out really special.
She then left the shaded waters and headed into the sun behind the shoreline weeds. For some reason I liked the way this one showed her beauty.
I do enjoy the show the mallards put on for me, tomorrow I finally find a different duck species.

She is very pretty and you have captured her very well.
What a beautiful mallard, and you have a lovely reflection of her. Wonderful photos!
Nice shot with the reflection. Drake and a nest nearby?
She's a pretty one and I liked the reflections she casted off too!
A subtle beauty,that female Mallard.
Blessings,Ruth
No matter how many times I see the Mallards swim by I will always take a picture of them. I really like the first one.
Oh I love the reflection too!
The Mallards are pretty too. Common does not mean we shouldn't stop to enjoy them too. I think Robins are the same way. We have less photos of the Robin, because he is common place. But when you really take the time to look at him he is pretty too.

You got some great shots of this beauty. I'm glad she agreed to pose for you.
That last one really does show her beauty, but I love the first photo also.
Not only are ducks beautiful, and excellent swimmers, they are officially the funniest animal ... as determined by an international survey, ... slightly out-besting the cow. I read that in the New Yorker.
Very pretty, Tom. I think she was flirting with you!!!! Did you see that 'wink'??????

She is a beauty, and with her watery reflections too!
I love all those pictures. Even when she's "hiding". Shy little thing, huh?
I have been meaning to tell you, we have a creek called Fishing Creek, very near my house. Name similar to your creek.
I'm always amazed how many beautiful natural subjects you photograph, Fishing Guy.
Wonderful close-ups of the mallard!
This duck is not camera shy at all! Very nice!
In the one of her in the sun, I can really appreciate her colors and I like that reflection even more than the first one.
A wonderful Mallard series... I noticed them coming back here and searching for thawed out waterways... they are amusing little guys (and gals).
I really think the female is more beautiful then the male. I love the pattern of her feathers and the colors in them. These are wonderful shots of her.
I came across a pair last week at the bird feeders, not what I expected to see at all... but it was still nice to see them there. I'll post the pictures some time in the future.
Hope you are doing well..
Nice Tom, I'm trying to figure out what your new ducks species will be.......Yes, my real last name is "Arbour". You'll never believe it, but my other botanist co-worker, Rick, who I sometimes talk about, has the last name of "Gardner". Arbour and Gardner. Crazy, isn't it?
Tom
beautiful duck pictures Tom! the mallards are so much fun this time of year. I can't wait for the babies. I see you have been exersizing with the holtzer monitor on.. good luck getting all those stickers off..lol. Our son has had to wear one on more than one occasion. Once when he was 5 they put one on him and told us to just go about what we had planned for the day. Well we had some shopping to do and then we were going to go for a hike.. Well we started out at K mart, and he went up a slide and hung up the wires on the handle at the top.. after I got him re-hooked we drove up in to the mountains for our hike. The place we went is pretty full of Grizzly bear, and though we did not see any that day, Mike and I laughed about what the readings would have been had we seen some.. Maybe could have over charged the pacemaker..lol.. good luck with your recovery and keep up the exersize, it is good for you..;-)
This is a beautiful series of images of Mrs Mallard and her sparkling reflection.
Love the shadows. I have a lot of duck photos too.
The reflections make these shots absolutely outstanding!
