This is a story of the local doe that came for a discovery. She did know I was watching and called out, "What are you going to do, Fishing Guy. Did you plant something for me".

Mrs. Deer then said "Do you have some more to eat? Why yes, a food feeder." Mrs. Deer, that is a bird feeder. Oh well, a new critter has eaten from the feeder.
Okay Soccer Boy, go and get her. The deer is on the left of the shed and Soccer Boy goes to the right. Will you look at that quiet stalk. They both move behind the shed and meet 5 foot from each other. She feeds very close and my youngest grandson has a close encounter of the nature kind. The deer runs off and Soccer runs back to tell everyone about the encounter.

I think you're gonna need a taller fence, Fishing Guy! Great snapshots of the deer, though. They are such cute animals but can be so destructive to gardens.
I love that open-mouth expression. The deer really seems to be talking!

Just bought a book and the title is GARDENING IN DEER COUNTRY. I think you might need a copy. I learned from reading it the following facts:

Today Way more than 15 million deer
An adult buck or doe eats around 10 pounds of food per day. That's a lot of young green shoots and flowers.
Deer have adjusted their feeding times to avoid being seen by us---they feed at dawn or dusk.
What deer don't like for dinner:
native plants
toxic plants
smelly plants
hairy fuzzy plants
prickly plants

Amusing!!! Oh deer me, the last time I saw a deer was when my baby (the one who recently got married) was barely a year old!
And the last time I fed them fried venison was 9 years ago. I closed my eyes for the horrendous price (500 grams was A$8.00).

Very nice of you to be growing veggies for the Critters! Having a 5 year old Grandson myself, I can imagine his sense of discovery and excitement when seeing the deer. I came late to see your Sky Watch but happened upon this newer post, too!
