Friday Fun Photos - The Wilds

Wednesday post was my 750Th and anyone who commented will be allowed to choose a framed photo from my photo collection. I will choose a name in the next few days.

The Wilds is a fun place to go in Ohio. We rode in a open bus and had a neat look at the animals on the open plain. The Asian Rhino were in a lake which are pictured above in the header.

These are the White Rhino family that were wondering the fields. The Sichuan Takin is a strange animal and here are two babies along with the adult.
The Scimitar-Horned Oryx has neat antlers and there is a baby in the grass.
There were a pair of Cheetahs which were caged separately. There were also a the pack of the African Wild Dogs and a pair of Dhole in other enclosures.
The Cheetah is a beautiful animal.
It is a great trip which I would recommend.

Now this how "zoos" should be--lots of open space for big animals to roam. I'm not sure how "wild" any of it is though--that's always a relative term, with a continuum scale of caged animals on one end to a place where humans still function as predators on the other. Sort of like potted plants, native plants in the garden, and wild plants on their own...

Tom this is really a fantastic place you went to. Cheetah are my favorite animals above all others and second the elephant.

Congrats on your posts!! WOW!! That sure is a lot. I think I must be around 50 now although I have not checked up lately to see.

Craig: See how much of life you miss when you live in a city? :)

Are you sure you were in Ohio and didn't take a fast trip to South Africa to visit Joan?
These are all excellent. Nice to see the wildlife looking wild instead of caged.

Fantastic... to see all these sorts of animals is neat! Animals you would only read about in magazines or see on nature shows. How cool is that?! I just love the Cheetah... it's my favorite... beautiful animal.

Great shots! We'll be in Akron/Cleveland again for Labor Day. Is this near that region? My kids would love it! (OK, so I will, too)

How does that oryx keep from stabbing itself?
Yes, cheetah's are beautiful creatures.
