Camera Critters #52

Camera Critters by Misty Dawn, go here to see who's participating. This post is a special week for my friend Misty as Camera Critters reaches one year. Way to go Misty as you reach one year. Thank you for your perseverance.

Yesterday I was following a female Mallard Duck as she moved along Fishcreek stream. This was a little further up the stream as I followed some other ducks. Shadows and reflections in this shot.
The male decided to head up on shore to get far from me.
He stopped on the grass and gave me a special pose. It almost looks like a stuffed animal or statue.

As I moved along some other ducks caught my attention. Wait, these are not Mallard Ducks, are they. No Mallard has a gray head with a white stripe.

Okay, i had to look it up and for certain it is a Blue Wing Teal. Since this is a new duck to me I thought it was very appropriate for one year of Camera Critters.

Way to go Misty, may you have another great year after your Meme's birthday celebration.

Great mallard shots Tom. The Teal is very distinctive with those white markings on a grey head. An easy one to remember.

I like ducks, and I DON'T like snakes either, so I was glad I could get the picture by just opening the car door!!!! I don't like to miss an opportunity, but you just never know about snakes!

Nice work on the Mallards Tom and congrats on the Teal! For some reason I have never encountered teal migrating through my area.

Way to go, FG! Congrats on finding a new duck. I know that would make me feel pretty good to find a different type.

I admire the male one -- his green head is very attractive though both are beautiful. We don't have ponds nearby so i seldom see docks in my area. :)

Happy Sunday!

Congratulations on capturing your new bird, the Blue Wing Teal. But I especially like your first and third photos. They may be the more common Mallards, but each is a wonderful photo.

It's so relaxing to go somewhere to watch the wildlife. You must have had a fun time following these ducks with your camera...trying to get the perfect shot. Well, you got quite a few good shots & I'm sure you had a great time doing it!

Hi Fishing Guy: In answer to your question, I could probably sneak myself into the car's cockpit & catch a ride if I wanted to, but I think I might toss my cookies cuz it will go so fast! Nice duck pictures...you know I like ducks cuz they're very fun to chase:)
