Wednesday Potpourri - Hawks

I saw this hawk spiral from a pine tree and get a small bird for lunch, pretty sure it's a Coopers Hawk which is the medium hawk in the neighborhood. This was just last week with a good 4" of snow. This is from my walk along Fish Creek, in the distance I could see a hawk in a tree.
I was able to get close enough to get this shot. This is another Coopers Hawk.
I also got this one as he decided he had enough of me and escaped into the landscape.
They are certainly a beautiful bird.

You take such great photos of hawks, Tom. They must like you since they 'allow' you to take their picture.. Love that one --next to the last.

Hi Tom...Great captures! I've seen this hawk a few times in our woods, I haven't been able to photograph it yet, though. I hear they are calling for more snow next week, I don't know about you...but I've had enough!

Nice photos. We don't often see Cooper's, but we do have a Sharp-shinned who checks out the birdfeeders every now and then.

Hawks are one of my favorite birds. Thanks for sharing these pics.

Very cool. I've never seen a hawk actually catch a bird, but I've once seen one eat a bird it caught at my feeders. More often I see the birds evade them, so it would be amazing to seethe speed of the actual capture.

Really nice pictures; I love hawks and eagles. Along with about every other bird. But there is just something special about Eagles, hawks and Canada geese for me.

Oh, I saw two predatory birds today with no camera. Lucky you got the shots.

Excellent hawk photos. I wish I had more encounters with them.

I liked your sky watch post as well. We didn't have any snow this week, but mostly the skies were leaden gray with some heavy rain. Yesterday was a perfect spring day once the fog and frost burned off in the morning.
