Camera Critters by Misty Dawn, go here to see who's participating. Here are some critters from the insect world. Here is a spider and a beetle on a milkweed plant blossom.
This is a neat Silver Spotted Skipper Butterfly which posed for me.
Here are two damselflies starting to get to know each other.
I think this is an Ebony Jewelwing Damselfly.
Why this is a Katydid, I'm not sure what Katy did to get the name. It is in the Tettgonidae family not a grasshopper. It did crawl onto my hand. That tail looks dangerous with the red end.
I do hope you enjoyed my travels through the insect world.

Not a fan of bugs ... but you got some great pix!
I played too :)
I did enjoy your travels through the insect world! I prefer the damselflies!
A wonderful selection of photos, Tom. The Katydids will soon start making their sounds at night. I have always liked to hear them. Many in this area called them "August Bugs", as that is when they are most noticeable.
Nice shots FG!
I've been trying for a week to get damselflies. They haven't stayed still enough for me. :)
Carletta’s Captures.

Love your insect shots, I love getting up close and personal with them with my camera.
Great collection of bugs in your neighborhood. You may be competing with Joan. Wonderful captures.
Fascinating close-ups! I don't care for them walking on me though!
What great collection of critters you have here. Fun to watch. The damselflies are naughty. hehehe. The first photo is my fave.
Love the photo header on your blog too. Happy weekend! :)
Beautiful macros of the insects! over at Isthar's, it's puppy critter time! :-D
Beautiful insect photos. I love the variety in the insect world.
I sure did enjoy the pictures. The damselflies are quite pretty. Hope all is well sorry I haven't been to visit in a while, but I haven't been doing to much blogging lately.
Oh I do like these Tom, especially the ebony damselfly and the two mating. A wonderful selection today. Thanks.
I did indeed enjoy your insect trip FG. Especially the dragonflies.
Hi Tom, I have probably told you this before but my oldest son LOVED bugs. He would bring all kinds of bugs in the house---and make me holler!!!!
This morning, we were eating breakfast on our deck---watching the bluebirds. All of a sudden, we heard a ruckus ---and realized that a Bluejay was nearby the Bluebird nest. The jay was trying to get to our feeders --and probably didn't care a thing for those Bluebirds. BUT--the Bluebird family were ready to 'fight' to protect their young. That jay left quickly!!!! ha
Have a great weekend.

Wow, that jewelwing is beautiful.
Cute spider :-) Do Ebony Jewelwings come in different colors? Yours looks dark, I had one that looked metallic green and Becky posted one that looked blue. Maybe it is just what light they are in. I always wondered about the name Katydid....must have been bad to get named for it :-) Great shots!
Wow... nice critter photo captures!
I love their names too!
The fox in your title photo is just stunning! ~Maria
Wow! I loved hearing their names and seeing them so close up. My kids have a fascination going with lightning bugs, which they'd never seen before this summer. Now after seeing all yours I'm thinking a bug hunt is in order!
I love them all-I like bugs. But my favorite is the katydid-I happen to have one who lives with me : )
Man, those photos are something else! Bravo!
Fun Blog. Love the Katydid!

I enjoyed this insects series, Fishing Guy. What nice colors and details!
lovely red bug. love all the insects posts.
Great one of the dragonflies. It amazes me to think how something so small and delicate could survive in nature.
I not a huge fan of insects but your photos portray them in such a friendly and harmless way. :O)
Yessir, the critters are all out this time of the year. great captures........
Nice post. Looks neat to me to see the spider and bugs on the milkweed seeds.

Wonderful bug collection you have posted here. It's what I always look to see before I tie on a fly at the lake... to see what active insects are buzzing around.
Wonderful, pretty amazing.
Great shots, but there is NO WAY that critter would get near me!
I love your tour of the insect world. The Skipper is great, I have a few of those on my post this week as well.
Wonderful captures.
Through Squirrel Eyes
Great captures, Tom!
Insects are cool. Well some are hot or at least I am after they bite or sting me! Your rose on your header is delightful!
You know I did!
